Strengthening Security, Protecting Patients: Thank You to the National Abortion Federation

We are honored to share that Choices Women’s Center has received a cybersecurity grant from the National Abortion Federation (NAF), support that directly strengthens our ability to protect our patients, our staff, and the sensitive information entrusted to us every day.

As an independent clinic providing abortion care in Arizona, security is not an abstract concept for us. It is a daily operational necessity. Our patients deserve absolute confidence that their care is private, their data is safe, and their experience from scheduling to follow-up, is protected by the highest possible standards. Thanks to NAF’s generous support, we are now implementing a comprehensive cybersecurity program designed to secure our clinical systems, encrypt communications, protect our websites, harden our networks, and ensure we are fully prepared for the digital threats targeting abortion providers across the country.

This grant allows us to move forward with critical upgrades including firewalls, encrypted backups, multi-factor authentication, network segmentation, website protections, and staff training.

CYBERSECURITY PROJECT PLAN

These improvements aren’t just about preventing cyberattacks; they are about affirming our core promise: that every patient who seeks care with us will be treated with dignity, safety, and respect.

We are also laying important groundwork for the future. As Arizona’s legal landscape evolves and as we continue to challenge harmful TRAP laws that restrict patient autonomy, we are preparing our systems for the possibility of offering secure, remote abortion services if and when those services become legal in our state. Secure telehealth infrastructure is essential to that vision, and NAF’s support allows us to take meaningful steps toward it.

NAF’s mission is to ensure safe, legal, and accessible abortion care by uniting, serving, and supporting providers. In administering this grant, they not only protect clinics like ours from physical and digital threats, but they also strengthen the entire network of independent providers who carry the majority of abortion care in this country. Their partnership helps us remain resilient, patient-centered, and focused on what matters most: removing barriers to care and ensuring every person can access abortion safely and without fear.

To our colleagues at NAF: thank you for your trust, your leadership, and your unwavering commitment to the security and sustainability of abortion access. Your support empowers us to continue delivering high-quality, compassionate healthcare in a challenging environment and prepares us for the future we are determined to build.
